Full Delivery Mitigation

In 2018, WES’s Stitches Stream Mitigation Project was selected as a full-delivery stream mitigation project by Tennessee Stream Mitigation Program (TSMP).

WES led the restoration and permanent protection of approximately 7.5 miles of stream habitat on this former commercial cattle farm. WES implemented a comprehensive restoration plan that included in-channel stream restoration, riparian buffer restoration, and the planting of native hardwood species. A key component of the project was the exclusion of cattle to improve water quality and reestablish wetland and species habitat. Through collaboration with private landowners, TSMP, and regulatory agencies, WES has ensured the site’s long-term ecological health and its ongoing role in offsetting unavoidable stream impacts under the Clean Water Act.

As WES and the Pedens got to know each other, their land stewardship missions seemed to align more and more...."
