Working with WES

In 2022, WES was retained by the City of Boulder Regional Detention Project Team to develop 30% mitigation design concept to provide onsite offsets to the Regional Detention Project. The restoration approach reestablishes floodplain conditions, including riparian and wetland habitat, Preble’s meadow jumping mouse habitat, and Ute ladies’-tresses orchid habitat on a previously gravel mined property along South Boulder Creek in Boulder County, Colorado.

Westervelt has since been awarded with additional scope of work including development of a topsoil evaluation memo, Ute ladies'tresses orchid transplant mitigation memo, development of 90% design plans, and stamped drawings for construction. The project has been coordinated with multiple agencies and stakeholders to ensure that the project will provide compensatory mitigation that meets or exceeds requirements of The City of Boulder,  U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
