Species Conservation

The Shell N20 Mitigation Site conserves 59 acres of habitat in Alameda County, fulfilling Shell Pipeline’s biological mitigation requirements for the North 20 Coalinga–Avon Replacement Project. WES delivered a turnkey mitigation solution by securing and protecting annual grassland and seep habitat under a conservation easement, allowing Shell to move forward with critical infrastructure upgrades while meeting all state and federal environmental compliance obligations.

The preserved habitat supports California tiger salamander, California red-legged frog, and San Joaquin kit fox, offsetting project impacts while providing long-term ecological benefits through ongoing stewardship, including vegetation management, invasive species control, and site monitoring. By completing the mitigation efficiently and at scale, WES helped advance needed infrastructure improvements and reliability while delivering meaningful conservation outcomes for the region.
