The Big Gun Conservation Bank, located in Michigan Bluff, California, boasts the largest documented population of California red-legged frogs in the entire Sierra Nevadas.
In 2008, after numerous attempts by local, State and federal entities to purchase the property with grant money had fallen through, WES stepped in and acquired the property to assist the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in accomplishing their stated recovery goals for the California red-legged frogs in the Sierras.
Given the ecological importance of this particular site, the site is permitted to sell mitigation for the entire Sierra Nevada range of the California red-legged frog.
